Christmas Light Displays in Madison, WI
When it comes to Christmas lights, Madison has a lot to offer. From Fantasy in Lights at Olin Park and the zoo, there are multiple places that you can see some of the best light displays around. Here is our list of our favorite places to get into the holiday spirit!
Fantasy in Lights
Fantasy in Lights is the oldest light display on this list, having opened in 1986. Located in Olin Park, this display has over 1 million lights and is open from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve and is generally open from 6pm to 10pm.
Shine on Madison
Shine on Madison is a free event held in downtown Madison and will stay up through January 9, 2023.
Zoo Lights at the Henry Vilas Zoo
The Henry Vilas Zoo is known for its beautiful displays year-round, but during the holidays they outdo themselves. From November 24 to January 1, the zoo will be covered in over a million lights, with festive snowflakes hanging from every tree and ice rink. You can even enjoy a ride on the snowflake slide or take part in some snowshoeing! If you need to warm up after all that excitement, there’s also an ice skating rink or carousel.
If you’re looking for something more interactive, check out their train ride through “Winter Wonderland.” If you want to get an even closer look at how things are made at this magical place (and maybe take some pictures), consider volunteering as an elf—you’ll get free admission and snacks while helping keep Winter Wonderland running smoothly!
